Latch Cottage, London
Project: To design a single storey extension with a vaulted roof. Contract Value: Completed. |
Contract Details
The brief for this project was that the new extension needed to be open plan and also have a vaulted ceiling.
The extension is hipped to one side, this meant a simple horizontal ridge beam is not feasible. Cranked steel bridge beam was adopted, with one end bearing onto a traditional concrete padstone, the opposite end sat onto a steel beam bridging over the side elevation window opening.
The remainder of the roof was constructed from timber work i.e. rafters, hips and trimmers beside velux openings. The perimeter walls of the new extension were traditional brick block construction, with cavity lintels spanning over new window and door openings.
