The clients’ brief was to design a single storey rear extension, create a large opening to an existing extension, convert a roof space and create a new rear dormer.

The new rear extension was formed from timber flat roof joists, the block work walls including the parapet had a rendered finish, these walls were built onto traditional trench fill concrete foundations.

For the loft conversion, two steel beams were installed, one been for the ridge above the converted loft and the second beam over the new rear bifold opening. For the loft conversion, new stronger rafters where required, as well as new first floor timbers and also new dormer supports.
